Suburban Service League is an all-volunteer organization who mission is to provide financial assistance, through fundraising events, to individuals and organizations in need, focusing on the southern suburbs. Our members work to solicit financial support from corporations, small businesses, and individuals. Our members also apply a “hands on” approach by contributing side by side to unload supply cartons, packing food boxes, hosting holiday parties, buy gifts for children in need, making meals for PADS, and participating in other activities that support the charities we work with.
For 53 years, this all-volunteer group of women have given back to charities and individuals that are located in our immediate backyard or our neighboring communities.
In our 2015-2016 fiscal year, we financially supported 55 charities and 20 individuals. Our services included supplying meals, beds, bedding, clothes, day-to day living supplies, as well as financially supporting education needs of individuals with grants to local community colleges.
Some of the charities Suburban Service Leagues supports include: Aunt Martha’s, Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Cook County, Lincolnway Special Recreation Foundation, Respond Now, Sertoma Centre, SOS Children’s Village, PADS, The Cancer Support Center, Food pantries located in Frankfort, Chicago Heights, and New Lennox, Together We Cope, Crisis Center for South Suburbia, and Good Sheppard. Most likely, someone you know living in the Southland Community has been touched by Suburban Service League donations through one of the many organizations and individuals we support.
In the past, 13 years our small group of ladies has raised over one million dollars. Suburban Service League is proud to say that every dollar raised in donated directly back into the communities we serve. Every dollar we donate in scrutinized to ascertain its legitimate use.
If you would like to send a donation, attend our fundraiser (The Crystal Ball), or learn more about us please feel free to contact me. We greatly appreciate your interest in helping us help those is need in our communities.
